Bex Takes On…Bali

My tour of South East Asia was amazing but after a non-stop two weeks I was definitely in need of some chill out time on the beach. And where better than Bali?

I caught a morning flight from the unbelievably fancy Singapore Airport (designer shops galore and the Jewel – which is an inside waterfall – but unfortunately the waterfall wasn’t turned on!). Not a bad place for a stopover if you have to switch flights!

The sun shone down as I left Bali Denpasar airport and the prospect of a couple of relaxing days was very exciting. The first thing I noticed on the way to my hotel was the crazy traffic. So many people on mopeds and motorbikes were whizzing around the cars. I was quite relieved when we reached the hotel!

Despite the initial sunshine, the rain clouds soon gathered and dumped their contents on to me as I took an exploratory walk down to the beach. Luckily I had had the foresight to take my rain jacket but my bottom half was still absolutely soaking wet when I got back to the hotel.

After two weeks of rice and noodles, I was desperate for a nice meal. So I headed to the hotel’s restaurant and ordered surf & turf: a lovely sirloin steak topped with garlic prawns. Heaven on a plate!

Tasted AMAZING!

The people in Bali are so lovely which made being on my own again a lot easier. It was a bit odd to be sat in the restaurant on my own but it was so chilled there that it was nice to enjoy the quiet.

My last day in Bali was on Valentines Day. Not a bad location for some self-love! I spent the day laying by the pool (having the occasional dip to cool down) and read a whole book. Literally my PERFECT day.

A few days was not enough to fully experience Bali. It is definitely on my re-visit list (along with Singapore for the Grand Prix – combined trip maybe?!?) . See you next time Bali!
